History and Landscape of Basto

We begin the day with an introduction to the region at an 11th century castle that defines the area’s identity.
From here, we can see how Basto has evolved over time and how geography, isolation, and rural life have shaped wine production.
This initial overview helps set the stage for everything we’ll experience throughout the day.

Winemaker for a Day

We enter the cellar to understand the winemaking process and, shortly after, move on to the practical part.
A tasting of five single-varietal wines allows us to explore the profile of each grape variety, from freshness to structure and aromas.
With this foundation, each participant creates their own blend, adjusting proportions until the desired balance is achieved.
In the end, the wine is bottled and labeled, making this a personal and memorable experience.

From the vineyard to the table

We head to the vineyards, where direct contact with the land helps us understand the vine’s life cycle and the impact of the terroir on the wines.
The wine-paired lunch takes place in a tranquil setting, featuring regional dishes prepared according to local tradition.
Each dish is paired with house wines, selected to highlight the connection between food and wine.
